"Znamenka" manor. The history of this palace and park ensemble begins since 18th century when all lands near Saint-Petersburg along “Peterhoff perspective” were granted by Peter the First to their relatives and courts for building their suburban palaces. “Znamenka” had many owners and always were inherited by rich Russian nobles. Among that people there were such famous courts as count Golovin, favorite of the empress Elisabeth count Razumovsky, count Shuvalov. In 1790 senator Myatlev was the owner of “Znamenka” palace The emperor Nicholas I bought manor in 1835 and granted it to his wife Alexandra Fyodorovna. In 1856 the manor was inherited by the son of Nicholas I, Nicholay Nicholaevitch. He was very good owner and leaded himself the reconstruction of the palace. For that purpose he invited the most famous architects. Znamenka palace became the wonderful example of refined architecture. There were built stables near the small pond in the park. The architects that had taken part in construction and reconstruction of the palace were F.- B. Rastrelli, A. F. Kokorinov, A. V. Kvasov, A. I. Shtakenshneider, G. A. Bosse. After October revolution of 1917 the manor became a property of Soviet people. In 1968 the manor was once again reconstructed and turned into resort hotel. At this period the facades and some interiors such as Dance hall, vestibule, front stairs were restored by project of the architect Plotnikov M. M.. Now the citizens of Saint-Petersburg spend their days-off and vacations at resort complex of Znamenka – nice place of Russian olden times.
